Anixter Center is not-for-profit organization providing disability services and support that is individualized, choice-driven, culturally sensitive and promoting of inclusion.
In 1918, Anixter Center was born out of the need for an orphanage for abandoned children, and has served the greater Chicago area ever since. Continually focusing on the needs of the most underserved, Anixter Center is a leader in disability services offering 37 programs of support and service to over 7,400 children and adults with disabilities, including:
· Residential services
· Employment and vocational services
· Day rehabilitation, skill-building, counseling and recreational services
· Comprehensive behavioral health services, prevention and outreach
· Literacy, education and professional training services
· Chicago Hearing Society (CHS), a division of Anixter Center providing services for the
deaf and hard of hearing
· National Lekotek Center, a division of Anixter Center providing therapeutic play for
children with disabilities
· CALOR, a division of Anixter Center providing services that support minority
communities living with HIV/AIDS
