What is DFI?
DFI is a grant which
provides limited funds for sign language interpreting and captioning
services in situations not covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) including:
- Small Businesses
- Religious Services
- Social Activities

Who can receive DFI?
Any deaf or hard of
hearing person who resides in metro Chicago who would benefit from our
services at events held in the Chicago area is eligible for DFI.
How do I make arrangements to get
service?
Requests for service
should be made by the deaf or hard of hearing person. To arrange sign
language interpreting or captioning services, call:

Make requests 1 to 2 weeks in
advance for non-emergency situations. Be ready to give your name, the
date, time, and place where service is needed.
How much service can I receive?
There is a limited to the
number of hours of service any one person may receive in a given month.
This amount will vary each month. The Interpreter Services Manager can
tell you how much you may use. |
