Name of Event:  Penelope  Interpreted performance

Where:  Steppenwolf Theatre Company, 1650 N. Halsted, Chicago

Time:  7:30 PM

Description of Benefits, Attractions:  This is a “delicious, modern riff” on The Odyssey.  On a sun-scorched island off the coast of Greece, beautiful Penelope awaits the return of her husband, Odysseus, from the Trojan War.  Beneath her window, four speedo-clad men camp in an empty swimming pool, a cock-eyed internment where both provisions and time are running low.  Locked in a do-or-die competition to win Penelope’s love, they preen, posture and connive in a last-ditch effort to cheat a grisly fate.  This is the newest play by Irish playwright Enda Walsh.  It is an eloquent, wildly funny riff on life, love and the war at home.  Interpreters are Mark Motyka and Al Raci.

Where:  Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Avenue, Chicago

Time:  3:00 PM performance, 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM VIP reception

Description of Benefits, Attractions:  The celebrated Fulcrum Point New Music Project ensemble will deliver a percussive. rhythmic and theatrical program to celebrate the power of hearing in support of the commitment made by the Foundation for Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation to Children’s Memorial Hospital’s cochlear implant program and the Hart Family Cochlear Implant Education Coordinator position.  The Hart Family Cochlear Implant Education Coordinator visits schools and special education cooperatives throughout Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana to provide support and advocacy for more than 200 children in the cochlear implant program.  The program will surprise and entertain the whole family.

Description of Benefits, Attractions:  maichael Patrick Thornton and his improve group natural Gas will rock the house!  Michael is the artistic director of The Gift Theater, a celebrated Chicago actor who plays Dr. Gabriel Fife, a recurring guest star on ABC’s Private Practice. Description of Benefits, Attractions:  Recommended for ages 7 and older.  Nancy Drew must search every corner of a spooky mansion to solve the mystery of a 100-year-od man’s disappearing fortune.  Will solving the case jeopardize her friendship with best pals Bess and George?  Will the fortune be taken by the bad guys or will Nancy use her brainpower (and some luck) to save the day?
