Event: Constructed Action and
Constructed Dialogue: Embrace Your
Role Where: Columbia College, 623 S. Wabash, Room
203, Chicago Time: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lunch provided Description of
Content: Who said that? What are they doing? What did he just throw? Any time more than one person is involved
in the conversation, it can get confusing.
Then add action on top of that conversation and even the best of us
can get lost. Commonly confused with
role shifting, Constructed Action and Constructed Dialogue (CA/CD) take
practice to master. In this workshop
we will explore ways to convey the depth and detail of a message by using
CA/CD while interpreting English to ASL and ASL to English. We will discuss when CA/CD is used and the
ASL linguistic features that comprise CA/CD.
When we are finished you will know who said that, who did it and be
ready to catch the message he just threw at you. Presented in ASL by Lisa Burckhardt. Sponsoring organizations: Sorenson VRS and Columbia College Fee: Free; contributions accepted for the
Chicago Hearing Society Youth Program.
Make checks payable to: CHS
Youth Program. CEUs: .5 (PS) CEUs Registration Information: RSVP to Jackie Seay at jseay1@sorenson.com |
