December 2009

SAVE THE DATE!! SAVE THE DATE!!

IDHHC would like to announce that we have decided to do something different this year regarding our Annual Statewide DEAF Finger-Spelling Bee event.  Instead of having the event in the springtime which is the traditional date- we will be having it on December 4th, 2009.  The event will be hosted at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum in Springfield, IL.  The competition will begin at 1:30 p.m.

The participating schools/competitors will have an opportunity to go on a tour in the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum before the competition begins.

The Finger-Spelling Bee competition will be for any 5th- 8th graders with a hearing loss in the state of Illinois.  Please spread the word!

Hi.  I am starting a workgroup for people who provide ASL instruction.  This includes formal academic institutions, such as high schools and colleges, and other places, such as Deaf mentors or DTHs in Early Intervention, church groups, etc.  ASLTA members are welcome although the workgroup is geared towards those who do not have resources such as ASLTA.  If interested in participating, please email me at mamasbaum@aol.com   Further information and dates will be provided in a separate forum.  Thanks Michelle Masbaum
